Flutter vs React Native: how to choose for your business app

Both frameworks let you ship iOS and Android apps from one codebase. Here is how they differ and which suits which situation.

If you need an app on both iOS and Android, building two separate native apps is rarely the best use of budget. Cross-platform frameworks let one team ship both from a single codebase. The two most widely used options are Flutter and React Native, and both are mature choices for business apps.

The key differences

Language

Flutter apps are written in Dart. React Native apps are written in JavaScript or TypeScript, the same languages used for React websites.

How the interface is drawn

Flutter draws its own interface with its rendering engine, so the app looks the same on every device. React Native uses the platform's native interface components, so the app follows each platform's look by default.

Team and code sharing

If your company already has a React web team, React Native lets them reuse skills and some logic. Flutter suits teams who want one consistent, highly branded design across platforms, and it can also target web and desktop.

Choose Flutter when

  • You want a custom, brand-led design that looks identical on iOS and Android.
  • The app has rich animations or custom UI components.
  • You do not have an existing React team to reuse.

Choose React Native when

  • Your team already works in React and TypeScript.
  • You want the app to follow each platform's native look closely.
  • You rely on specific JavaScript libraries or want to share logic with a React website.

What both can do

For typical business apps (accounts, bookings, ordering, dashboards, forms and notifications) both frameworks perform well. When an app needs device features such as Bluetooth or background processing, both can call native code, so the right choice depends more on your team and design goals than on raw capability.

Our approach

We build most cross-platform apps in Flutter for its consistent design and smooth performance, and we will recommend React Native when your team or existing code makes it the better fit. The right answer is the one your business can maintain.
